Time for another GIVE AWAY -
2 celebrations - we are mid way through the year, and more importantly, I have reached the 100 followers mark.
I had always planned to have a GIVE AWAY when I reached 100, but I missed the moment because it happened when I was away. With no urgency, I decided to make something special.
Lots of people fell in love with my little waxed silk book, so I have made another for the give away. It was a lovely feeling, sitting quietly making a small fabric book from dyed silk given to me by Fiona which she got from Lisa at Mud Hound Studio [Baltimore]. Knowing that the book would leave me and go to one of my blog followers was a special feeling. I just love these around the world connections.
The book is about 9cm x 14cm, made from strips of silk sewn together with a black cotton 'cover' with a bit of discharge dying on the back [fancy name for bleaching].
I gave the pages a light encaustic [wax] finish to stiffen the pages slightly - ironed on, then washed out again. A black painted piece of driftwood acts as a decorative spine.
If you would like to be in the draw for the silk book, just leave a comment below where it says 'Post a comment'. If you don't have an ID, leave a comment as 'Anonymous' but please leave your name and email so I can contact you if you win. I will draw the winner next Sunday, 6pm EST, so you have a week to post a comment.
Good luck, everyone.
