I have a commission to make a pair of red 'teabag' earrings for a regular customer at our local 'Art on Cairncross' Gallery. The lady has bought many of my jewellery pieces, so I am keen to do something special for her.
I have made jewellery from dyed teabag tissue in the past - they are always a hit with the more adventurous art lover. I have been 'out of the loop' with jewellery making for a few months, so it has taken a while to get back into it. The first pair I made were way 'over the top',

Bazola again
LATEST FINISHED PIECES
We are not going to get rich at the rate it takes me to get these pieces finished!! Never mind, are are both really enjoying the process and we keep coming up with new ideas, techniques and materials. One VERY rainy weekend, I knitted wire and this is the result - Baz beaten copper and silver plated brass, Noela knitted and wrapped wire and some silver beads thrown in for good measure.
RAW MATERIAL
Baz keeps giving me bling that is very cleverly and suspiciously shaped into twisted, hangy, dangly, bits -and they come in pairs!! - hmmmm- maybe he reckons earrings will be a good seller. The bonus for me is that they are already polished!

WABI SABI JEWELLERY
I have a couple of jewellery tasks to attend to this weekend. One of my neck pieces was in an exhibition tittled 'Water from the Moon' earlier this year in the Brisbane City Square Library. It was subsequently sold through 'Art on Cairncross', one of our fabulous Sunshine Coast Hinterland galleries. I need to adjust the neckband so that it sits comfortably on a very slim neck.
This is the piece in question. It is made from a beautiful piece of moss agate and silver plated tubes and beads. It represents the moon reflecting on the water over our spectacular Lake Baroon. The lake was a sacred aboriginal site and still retains the magic.
The other project is to make a pair of turquoise earrings to match a neckpiece sold to a friend earlier this year. The first step -selecting the feature beads from my stash of turquoise.
In the end, I made three pairs of suitable earrings - I like to have plenty of choice for my clients, and I always was a bit of an overachiever!

JEWELLERY
I am going to Brisbane tomorrow to take some jewellery to a gallery I found in Fortitude Valley. I love the selection I am taking - my favourite wabi sabi series. They were in the Noosa Regional Gallery shop and were selling well until I was swamped by some fabulous competition! Time for a new outlet. It is always hard 'putting yourself out there' as an artist.

These earrings are made with teabag tissue, watch parts, freshwater pearls and silver plated wire and beads. I rarely use sterling silver because I want my jewellery to be affordable and not too 'precious'.
The neckpieces are made from antique barbed wire, hand fabricated rusty wire, 'Picasso' stone, dyed teabag and silverplated findings and stainless steel wires.
