Monoprinting #2

'Gaia'
This time I printed a black blob onto paper,

...glued down a torn bit of chin colle tissue paper for added interest,

...dipped some coconut broom fibres in blue ink and squished the lines down,

...then carefully chose a small gold foil flick to off set the organic composition.

....voila.!!....

Monoprinting

I have joined the Maleny Printmakers group.
We have an exhibition coming up in September as part of a Regional Arts Festival [Art Street Maleny - HORIZON ARTS FESTIVAL].
The idea is to create editions of 10 of 5 different prints. As I am not a traditional printmaker, my work will be editions of monoprints, each one being slightly different.
The first series started as free transfer prints from a glass plate to paper, using lino block inks,
and checking composition with a correctly sized viewfinder.

I love creating tissue paper chine colle to use in my work, so I happily painted some greens and blues to enhance the landscape feeling.

By now there was a distinct 'glacial' thing happening, so I cut some stencils to print solid areas of flowing ice and snow, then scratched in a few lines to enhance the flow.

A final selection of composition and framed ready to go.

'Eye Spy'

I finished 'Eye Spy' a couple of weeks ago.
I gave up on using rib bones for glasses arms as they were too soft and not bent on the right angle. I found some great old reading glasses in the local op shop which even hinged in the right places, so took the arms off, did a bit of grinding and drilling and attached them to the lenses.

I glued some tiny watch parts either side of the glass for more stability and popped a bunch of emu feathers in the hole in the vertebra just for fun.
Finished!
