Back again with BAZOLA

Hi there - it's been a while - a combination of other priorities, other distractions, and plenty of procrastination.
Thanks to all my blogger friends out there who take the trouble to read my blog, and for being patient with my lack of updates.

I hope everyone has a very rewarding, fulfilling and most of all,
PEACEFUL 2013

I have not achieved much creatively in the past few months, but hope to change that soon.
I managed some Bazola a couple of weeks before Christmas - a creative collaboration of jewellery between Barry Smith and myself.
Main Street Gallery, in Montville is our stockist - the pendants sell for app. $90 and the earrings app. $70. Contact the gallery if you are interested in purchasing, they are happy to post out.

and some of Barry's beaten metal bowls,
...some of my 'Forest' paintings, with Chris Pantano glass,
...Fiona's 'Dreamboats',
and Barry's light catchers.
There are lots of other great works in there as well. Check out the web site for more good stuff.

SMALL GESTURES

Yes, I am back to producing what I know and love - the flowing, linear, mark making with enhancements here and there. I'm building up a stock of small canvases for the 'Small Pleasures and Treasures' Christmas exhibition at  Main Street Gallery, Montville. Coincidently, I am calling these 'Small Gestures'. These are 300 x 300 mm - mixed media on canvas.
...below are some pics of the developmental process [there are 6 paintings in this series] - I used rusted steel wool mixed with PVA to get these lovely rusty details.

I gave up on the encaustic - didn't get the results I wanted and as it is a messy and intrusive medium, I have put it away for the time being. However, I WILL get back to it when I don't have a deadline to meet.

On another Main Street Gallery note, our Bazola range is selling well - 7 pieces to date, so Baz has forged up a storm for me over the past few days. This is what he delivered yesterday [photo courtesy of Baz's 'Rustnstuff' blogsite].
No rest for the wicked!!

"Small Gestures"

I've had a few good days with my Art work - more Bazola, a commission for a wedding present painting based on my 'Beautiful Spirit' design, orders for new 'Wabi Sabi' jewellery from a local gallery 'Art on Cairncross', and 3 small completed paintings on canvas which I have titled 'Small Gestures'. I am very happy with these 3 and I hope to create many more of this genre - launching them in  the Main Street Gallery [Montville] Christmas show.
These latest paintings are created from the 20 metres of fabric which was exhibited last June at the Lucas Parklands sculptural show. They are only 200mm square on stretched canvas. Many more to come!

Bazola raw material

I was out to dinner last Friday night with lovely friends, lovely home made pizza and good wine. One of my lovely friends is Baz of Bazola who is the Friday Night Pizza Cooker. He is also the Friday afternoon fold former [he and Fiona ALWAYS manage to spend a few hours creating in their studios on Friday afternoons]. Barry presented me with a box full of fold formed metallic bits [almost still warm from the beating and bashing]. What a delight. Here they are with a few of my favourite forms.

...and here are some of my flotsam and jetsam driftwood pieces which I will include in my new designs. Can't wait to get stuck into it this week in between all  the Arts group meeings.

I have also ordered 130 metres of neoprene cord off Ebay [thanks to my sister Glenys for her Ebay expertise] so some of these will be worn around the neck. We will have a good collection for the pre Christmas show at Main Street gallery in Montville.
