Bazola in the Library
12 pairs or earrings ready to go into boxes,
display system sorted,
A4 promo sheets laminated,
...then this morning, Barry and I set up our 'Bazola' display in the library showcases,
...with my tools at the bottom of this case,
...and Barry's tools in this case.
Some pics of earrings in boxes, reflected in the glass shelving.
While we were doing this, Fiona was hanging a 'mini show' of hers and Barry's work to help promote the Open Studios. Check out her flash new app. on her phone - it's a 'builder's level' - yeah - must get me one of those...
...and then the mandatory coffee afterwards at the 'Green Kitchen' - ahhh - wouldn't be dead for quids!
Just one last thing - I am having terribly frustrating times trying to comment on lots of peoples' blogs - Google keeps asking me to sign in every time I comment, type the verification code, etc, etc. I ask my computer to 'stay signed in' but it won't cooperate. Any ideas?

Bazola again
LATEST FINISHED PIECES
We are not going to get rich at the rate it takes me to get these pieces finished!! Never mind, are are both really enjoying the process and we keep coming up with new ideas, techniques and materials. One VERY rainy weekend, I knitted wire and this is the result - Baz beaten copper and silver plated brass, Noela knitted and wrapped wire and some silver beads thrown in for good measure.
RAW MATERIAL
Baz keeps giving me bling that is very cleverly and suspiciously shaped into twisted, hangy, dangly, bits -and they come in pairs!! - hmmmm- maybe he reckons earrings will be a good seller. The bonus for me is that they are already polished!

BAZOLA jewellery design
Some fun stuff at last!!
Barry Smith - 'BAZ' -[ 'Rustnstuffblogspot.com] and I - 'OLA' -are collaborating on a range of jewellery - combining Barry's fold formed copper and brass forms and my found objects. We're making recycled, wabi sabi styled pieces basically just for fun, and we'll have a go at selling them in a local gallery during the lead up to Christmas.
Here is what we have come up with so far - 3 brooch/pins and a pair of earrings- combining beaten copper and brass, driftwood, wooden beads, silver plated copper wire and a rusty washer.

LUCKY GIRL #2
I had a phone call last week from a fellow artist I'd had business dealings with many years ago. He invited me to be part of an exciting new gallery - Macchia Gallery in Noosaville, owned and run by architect Frank Macchia - 55 Mary St Noosaville. The gallery is the essence of 'wabi sabi'. It has a wonderful Zen feeling with ancient Japanese and Chinese screens, doors and furniture; and the quintincential mondo and water feature courtyard gardens. It is a beatutiful and serene venue. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect space for my work. I have paintings, jewellery and scarves in the gallery. It should be up and running by Easter, the web site will be put together soon after.
...the feature gallery room with sculptures by Frank Macchia and Chinese 'Ding' vessels by Mark O'Neill.
Here is a selection of the work I am exhibiting...
'Forest Views'.....
'Landmarks'....
Jewellery...
...and scarves.
I am so grateful for this opportunity. The universe is looking after me.

WABI SABI JEWELLERY
I have a couple of jewellery tasks to attend to this weekend. One of my neck pieces was in an exhibition tittled 'Water from the Moon' earlier this year in the Brisbane City Square Library. It was subsequently sold through 'Art on Cairncross', one of our fabulous Sunshine Coast Hinterland galleries. I need to adjust the neckband so that it sits comfortably on a very slim neck.
This is the piece in question. It is made from a beautiful piece of moss agate and silver plated tubes and beads. It represents the moon reflecting on the water over our spectacular Lake Baroon. The lake was a sacred aboriginal site and still retains the magic.
The other project is to make a pair of turquoise earrings to match a neckpiece sold to a friend earlier this year. The first step -selecting the feature beads from my stash of turquoise.
In the end, I made three pairs of suitable earrings - I like to have plenty of choice for my clients, and I always was a bit of an overachiever!
